From Unmotivated and lacking Focus to Motivated and Focused
I realised I had to find out WHY? Why do I go through stages of high motivation, fully focused on what I am doing and then for no apparent reason a complete shift to no motivation and no focus.
After a long hard look at myself and everything around me, I came to the conclusion that I had stopped believing in myself, my confidence had dwindled and with that my creativity.
The Problem
How did this happen? Just a few months ago I was full of enthusiasm, energetic, and ready to conquer the world. I sat myself down with a note pad and pen and wrote down all the feeling and emotions I was going through: fear, uncertainty, loneliness, disappointment, anger, and my conclusion was this: I had allowed the curves balls and pot holes that are an inevitable part of life to put negative thoughts into my head. Now What? How do I get out of this debilitating period I was going through?
The Answer
I had to go back to basics. I was allowing all the negative talk take hold in my head, instead of pushing them to the curb. My first step was to go back to the "the power of a positive attitude", once I did that I could go back to my "Life Plan" and review my goals and priorities, check if I was still on track or if this period had set me back. I reviewed the short and long term goals I had put in place and adjusted the time frames.
We need to keep reminding ourselves that life is stressful and when we allow the negative to come back into our lives it is going to have an effect on us and the fulfillment of our dreams. We have to be on our toes all the time, because before you know it you have allowed all those little gremlins in and the longer you leave them there, the longer it takes to get rid of them.
Just by taking a step back and realising this was not how I wanted to continue living my life, I faced the challenge head on, took the time to adjust my thinking, and now I am back on track and ready to conquer the world again.
